1.用作动词时，clean多指清洗衣物污垢，整理房间等；
clear多指清理废物、障碍物等，也用于比喻中
Mother had my clothescleaned and ironed. 妈妈给我洗熨衣服。
The farmers are clearing the weeds from the fields. 农民们正在清理田间的杂草。
He cleared his throat and began to sing. 他清了清嗓子，然后开始唱歌。
2.作形容词时，clean指人或物的干净、清洁，也指人的纯洁，清白；
clear指恶的清楚，明白，清澈明亮。天气晴朗，或心情开朗等

3.clean up意为“收拾，整顿”；
clear up除表示“收拾”外，还有“弄清，澄清，开朗，放晴”等含义
